WELCOME TO BBQ-MANIA 2008, 1st ANNUAL BBQ COOKOFF AND FOOD FESTIVAL, BENEFITING CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL FONTAINEBLEAU STATE PARK, MANDEVILLE, LA OCTOBER 3-4, 2008
Thank you for stopping by for more information on BBQ-Mania I, Barnyard Smackdown. This KCBS sanctioned event takes place October 3rd and 4th in beautiful Fontainebleau State Park in Mandeville, Louisiana.
Proceeds from the event go to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. Children’s serves children throughout the State of Louisiana and does so without regard to a family’s ability to pay. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable institution that relies on the generosity of the people of Louisiana to continue operations.
The BBQ Cookoff will consist of both Professional and Patio Circuits with total prize monies of $7,500. The Grand Champion, Professional Circuit pays $2,000 and the Grand Champion Patio Circuit pays $500. Entry fees are $250 and $100, respectively.
There will also be a People’s Choice Award Trophy. To be eligible teams must agree to have some food available to samplers from the general public. The criteria here will be your food and decoration of your assigned competition area. Each team choosing to participate in the People’s Choice Award category will have a Children’s Hospital Donation Jar located in their area and people will vote by putting money in the jar of their choice.
There will be live entertainment both days, including Swingaroux and Five Finger Discount on Friday evening, and the Storyville Stompers Brass Band Saturday morning, Thomas ‘Big Hat’ Fields and his Foot Stompin Zydeco Band Saturday afternoon and Groovy 7 Saturday evening. Additional bands will be added. A wide variety of foods will be available as will a variety of adult and non-alcoholic beverages. Food and Drink Vendors and crafters of all types are encouraged to contact WST Electric to make arrangements for space.
